ARTZY HENNA • THE ARTIST BEHIND THE STUDIO
Meet Ankita Tomar,
the Artist Behind Artzy Henna.
Artzy Henna grew from my love of creating by hand. My work moves between custom henna designs, Jagua body art, henna work, creative learning and hand-painted artwork, but the idea behind everything I make is simple: create something personal, thoughtful and made for the person receiving it.
HI, I’M ANKITA
I Love Turning Simple Ideas Into Something Personal.
I’m Ankita Tomar, the artist behind Artzy Henna. What began as a simple love for creating gradually became a studio where I can work across several forms of art, from henna designs, henna work and Jagua body art to paintings, personalized gifts and hand-painted accessories.
I enjoy the fact that no two days in the studio have to look the same. One day I may be creating a detailed temporary body-art design one line at a time. Another may be spent painting a canvas, tote bag or zipper pouch, working on a personalized piece, or helping someone understand the techniques behind decorative body art.
For me, art is more than decoration. It can remind someone of a beloved pet, celebrate a special occasion, become a thoughtful gift or simply make a person smile when they see it. That’s the feeling I want the work leaving my studio to carry with it.
MY CREATIVE JOURNEY
One Medium Led Naturally to Another
Every artist starts somewhere, and my journey began with the simple enjoyment of making things by hand. As I spent more time creating, I realized that the part I loved most wasn’t one particular material. It was taking an idea and slowly giving it a form.
Painting opened the door to hand-painted zipper pouches, tote bags, bookmarks, magnets and canvas artwork. Decorative body art gave me another kind of canvas entirely. Creating henna designs, henna-inspired body art and Jagua temporary tattoos brought line, spacing, pattern, movement and placement into the creative process in a completely different way.
Over time, those different forms of art became Artzy Henna. Today the studio is where I can create temporary body art, teach creative techniques, paint original pieces and work on personalized projects without forcing creativity into only one category.
WHAT INSPIRES MY WORK
Sometimes the best idea begins with a flower, a pet, a memory, a color or a conversation.
Inspiration can come from almost anywhere. I notice shapes in flowers and nature, the personality of a beloved animal, the colors of a sunset and the small details people attach to their favorite memories. Customer ideas often become inspiration too.
That is one reason I enjoy custom work. A henna design or Jagua body-art design can be shaped around the person wearing it. A personalized painting can reflect a pet, memory or idea that means something to its owner. A small hand-painted gift can carry a story that a factory-made object simply doesn’t have.
No two pieces need to be exactly alike. That individuality is part of what makes handmade art rewarding for me.
ART BEYOND THE STUDIO
Bringing Art Into the Community
One of the most rewarding parts of this journey has been creating outside the studio. I’ve had opportunities to provide face painting and decorative body-art designs at local elementary school events, where children and families come together to celebrate, have fun and enjoy something creative.
Those experiences are different from sitting quietly with a painting or working through the details of a custom henna or Jagua design, but they remind me of the same thing: art creates a connection. Seeing a child’s reaction when a design is finished or watching someone recognize an idea they imagined become something real is a special part of the work.
Whether I’m working at a community event, creating temporary body art for a private appointment or celebration, or painting a custom piece in the studio, I try to give each project the same patience and attention.
ONE ARTIST • DIFFERENT WAYS TO CREATE
The Work Behind Artzy Henna
The studio has grown around several creative disciplines, but they all come from the same hands and the same attention to detail. That connection is important to me because Artzy Henna isn’t an anonymous marketplace. It is a working artist’s studio.
Henna Designs & Jagua Body Art
I create custom henna designs, henna-inspired temporary body art and Jagua tattoos, working with line, spacing, pattern and placement to build designs for private appointments, celebrations, parties and events. Clients may arrive looking for a henna artist, henna tattoo, henna work or Jagua body art, and I help them choose a design while clearly explaining the medium being used.
Teaching the Technique
I also enjoy helping people learn the techniques behind decorative body art, from controlling a cone and developing clean lines to understanding spacing, repeated elements, pattern building and composition. Learning how a design works is much more valuable than simply copying the finished pattern.
Painting & Personalized Work
Away from body art, I create hand-painted artwork, personalized gifts, canvas paintings, tote bags, zipper pouches, bookmarks, magnets and other small creative pieces. Each medium gives me another way to turn an idea into something tangible and personal.
MADE WITH A PERSON IN MIND
Custom Art Made for You
Some of my favorite projects begin when someone arrives with an idea rather than a finished design. It might be a painting inspired by a pet, a personalized gift for someone important, a hand-painted accessory or a body-art idea for a special occasion.
Custom work gives me the opportunity to listen first and then create. The final piece doesn’t need to look like something already sitting on a shelf. It can reflect the person, memory, occasion or idea behind it.
Every custom artwork order and every body-art appointment is handled personally by me, so the work receives the attention, patience and care that handmade art deserves.
