Ankita works with Henna and Jagua, two different plant-based body-art traditions and materials. Both allow artwork to develop on the surface layers of the skin and gradually disappear as those layers naturally renew.

How a Jagua Temporary Tattoo Develops
One of the most interesting things about Jagua is that the finished temporary tattoo does not simply appear at full color when the gel is removed. The design develops as a stain in the outer layers of the skin, creating the blue to blue-black appearance associated with Jagua body art.
The Design Is Drawn
Jagua is applied directly to the skin as the artist creates the design. Line weight, spacing, placement and composition are controlled by hand, allowing the artwork to follow the shape of the area where it is being worn.
The Surface Gel Comes Off
After the recommended application period, the Jagua material is removed from the surface of the skin. The appearance at this stage is not necessarily the final appearance of the temporary tattoo.
The Blue-Black Stain Develops
The temporary stain continues developing after removal, gradually revealing the characteristic blue, navy or blue-black tones associated with Jagua. The design then fades naturally as the outer layers of skin renew.
